Give Yourself Grace

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the woman I was in my twenties compared to the woman I am now in my thirties.

When I was younger, I had so many dreams, so many plans, and so many ideas about what my life would look like by a certain age.

And while I still have many of those same dreams, life has taken me through seasons I never could have anticipated.

Seasons that required me to slow down.

Seasons where I genuinely needed to step away from the rat race, tend to my emotions, and give myself the time and space to work through certain experiences.

And while that time was necessary, there's something I've had to navigate on the other side of it.

The feeling of being behind.

Not necessarily because I'm comparing myself to someone else, but because sometimes I find myself thinking about where I could have been had I not needed to take that time away.

What could I have accomplished by now?

How much further along could my business be?

What opportunities might I have pursued?

And I think that's something we don't always talk about when it comes to personal growth.

Sometimes you've done the healing. You've worked through the difficult seasons. You're ready to move forward.

But now you're faced with the mental weight of feeling like you have to make up for lost time.

And that's where I've been learning to give myself grace.

I'm Exactly Where I'm Supposed to Be

One thing I keep reminding myself is that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.

Not because I've accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish by now, but because I believe there's purpose in the journey I've taken to get here.

Those seasons weren't wasted.

They shaped me. They taught me things about myself. They helped me understand what I need, what I value, and how I want to approach this next chapter of my life.

And something else I've realized?

So much can happen in a short amount of time when you're focused and intentional.

I don't have to spend the next several years trying to compensate for the last few.

I can simply start where I am.

I can take what I've learned, get clear about what I want, and begin moving forward.

But this time, I want to do things a little differently.

Falling in Love With the Journey Again

I don't want to build a life where I'm constantly chasing the next accomplishment and forgetting to enjoy what I'm doing.

I want to create because I love creating.

I want to teach because I genuinely love helping singers discover what they're capable of.

I want to expand my business because I'm excited about the possibilities—not because I'm trying to prove that I'm successful or that I haven't fallen behind.

And I want to have fun along the way!

I want to meet new singers, collaborate with new artists, create meaningful experiences, and continue growing in my craft.

But I also want to enjoy my personal life.

I want to make time for myself.

I want to rest when I need to.

I want to laugh, explore, be present, and enjoy the life I'm working so hard to build.

Because I've learned that there's a difference between being dedicated to something and allowing it to consume you.

I don't want to become so focused on building my future that I forget to live in my present.

Rest Is Part of the Plan

One thing I'm being intentional about in this next season is recognizing when I need meaningful rest.

Not waiting until I'm completely exhausted.

Not pushing myself to the point where I need another long, extended break just to recover.

But learning how to balance ambition with sustainability.

I can work hard and still have boundaries.

I can be disciplined and still be flexible.

I can pursue big goals and still give myself permission to slow down.

And I can take my dreams seriously without taking myself so seriously that I forget to enjoy the process.

That's the kind of balance I want to continue developing.

Looking Ahead to 2027

As we approach the end of the year, I've been feeling excited about what's ahead.

This time of year is always such a beautiful opportunity to reflect, reassess, and begin preparing for a new chapter.

And I have so many things I'm looking forward to in 2027.

Expanding my vocal coaching business.

Working with new singers.

Collaborating with artists.

Continuing to develop my own gifts and creativity.

And just as importantly, learning how to create a life where all of those things can coexist with rest, relationships, and personal fulfillment.

I'm excited to see what God has in store.

But I'm not entering this next year with the mindset that I need to catch up.

I'm entering it with gratitude for where I am, appreciation for what I've learned, and excitement about what's possible.

A Little Grace for the Journey

So if you've ever looked at your life and wondered whether you should be further along by now, I want to encourage you with something I'm reminding myself of too.

You don't have to make up for every season that required you to slow down.

You don't have to measure your progress against a version of your life that never actually happened.

And you don't have to rush through the present trying to get to the future.

There's still time.

There's still room to grow.

There's still so much you can accomplish.

But there's also a life worth enjoying right now.

Give yourself grace for where you've been, appreciate where you are, and get excited about where you're going.

And whatever you do, don't forget to enjoy the journey.
